Jos van Dijk (1913-2000) - Nieuw Heeten, Overijssel

An old-fashioned farm in Nieuw Heeten (Overijssel). One nostalgic image of how it was. In his use of color one can still see that he was connected for a while with the art movement Cobra, of which he personally knew several of its founders. He never adopted the non-figurative aspect of that movement. Van Dijk was a craftsman who, as such, also contributed to a restoration of the Panorama Mesdag.

Attached is a preparatory study for the painting, in my view one of his better works.
