Elegant Art Nouveau klaverblad consoletable dating to 1900–1910, made in France of wood (noten) with a 43 cm deep and 73 cm high leaf and slender legs.
Description from the seller
Very elegant plant table / pedestal / side table / console table. The table is 73 cm high and the top measures 43 cm from the tip of the top to the other edge. The legs are spaced a little over 50 cm apart. It weighs almost 3 kg. The material from which the nicely turned and engraved legs are made appears to be walnut. It’s a bit hard to say about the tops. You can view this table as a cloverleaf table and it was probably made in the early 20th century in France. In the vicinity of Nancy, this type of table was made a lot in the Art Nouveau style. What is typically French are the very beautiful, graceful plant motifs that are especially engraved on the top; very simple and elegant!
This console table probably dates from the early years of the last century or perhaps even from the 1890s, the heyday of Art Nouveau / Jugendstil. Clearly visible are the graceful S‑shaped of the cloverleaf tops and the engraved plant motifs that were so characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. Very beautiful is the narrow, slender form where the legs finally taper elegantly.
This kind of table was often placed in a hall or at an entrance. They served mainly a decorative function and could be used as a plant table or pedestal (see photos). It could even be used as a kind of standing-height table or side table. The table is still very stable; only a very small wobble exists. Here and there are some minor signs of wear (see photos, but these are all logical signs of use). The top also shows a slight warp from temperature changes, but it is minimal and part of a table of its age.
This graceful antique piece of furniture is a jewel in any interior, classic yet also modern.
The table will be carefully packed and insured for shipment.
