Description from the seller
Wonderful large vase, reference 700.00, from the Venini catalog of 2016.
This splendid object is a 'Fazzoletto' vase, an iconic Murano glass piece produced by the historic Venini furnace.
Created in 1948 through the collaboration between painter Fulvio Bianconi and master glassmaker Paolo Venini, the design is inspired by the fluid movement of wind-blown skirts.
This 2016 specimen, 'Model Grande', is presented in a wonderful amber color with hazelnut reflections.
Made in two-tone opaline blown glass, usually obtained by layering milky glass with other colors; some small imperfections are a testament to the craftsmanship, in fact the irregular shape is created by freehand (the 'flying hand' technique), making every single piece unique in the world.
It is a classic of Italian design, so much so that it belongs to the permanent collection of MoMA in New York.
One image shows the authentic diamond-point signature engraved on the base of the vase. The inscription 'Venini 2016' confirms that the piece was produced in the Murano furnace in that year. Since 1975, Venini has indeed introduced the practice of engraving the year of production next to the mark to ensure the traceability of every work.
Shipping costs include highly protective packaging.
