Title: Rare Japanese Tanegashima Arquebus (1850) - Double Signature - Object of Art and Collectibles

Description:
For sale: an authentic hook-plock Japanese arquebus (Tanegashima) from the late Edo period (1850). A high-quality historical piece featuring remarkable craftsmanship.

Barrel (Nakago-mei): Signed Katai Naotetsu (片井直徹), dated May 1850 (Ere Kaei 3). Octagonal iron barrel benefiting from the Ai-tanzo forging technique. Magnificent inlays (Zogan) depicting a dragon and clouds, completed by a family crest (Mon).

Stock (Wood): Inside, signed in gold paint by the master gunsmith Nomura Buhei (野村武兵衛). Brass fittings in the form of chrysanthemums.

Condition: Sold strictly for decorative and collecting use due to its age.

Mechanism: Worn platinum mainspring (the dog no longer holds in the armed position).

Missing elements: Sold without its loading ramrod and without its pan-cover.

An exceptional display piece for a collector of Japanese art or militaria, bearing witness to the end of the samurai era.

Length of the stock: 102 cm, barrel 75 cm, weight 4.700 kg.
