The painter Cor W. Bouter lived and worked mainly in the area around Gouda, Voorburg and The Hague. He was presumably the brother of Pieter Bouter.

Cor Bouter is known as a painter of interiors and exteriors with figures in the manner of Blommers and Israëls, and also primarily as a painter of landscapes with horses and cows.
Cor Bouter worked a lot for the American and Canadian market, often under pseudonyms, such as:
C.Hendriks, C.Verschuur and C.Willems

The work is clearly old, has some craquelure but no paint loss, and is simply framed.
