Jan MEYER (1927-1995), Bourgogne, original work from 1978 in watercolour and charcoal on paper, 50 × 33 cm, multicolour with green, blue and violet, signed, excellent condition, France origin.
Description from the seller
Magnificent composition by the Dutch artist Jan Meyer, emblematic figure of Lyrical Abstraction of the Paris School.
This work, created in 1975, captures the essence of the Burgundy landscapes through a dynamic and colorful visual language. The artist here uses the transparency of watercolor paired with the nervousness of black ink lines to create a sense of movement and light typical of his work.
Points of strength for the collector:
• Provenance and Authenticity: The work is doubly identified by a signature on the front and an autograph inscription on the back ("Bourgogne 1975"), which guarantees its origin and its place in the artist's corpus.
• Condition: The pigments have preserved all their freshness and brilliance.
• Style: A perfect example of gestural abstraction from the 70s, where nature is reinterpreted by pure emotion.
Condition: Very good overall. Some light handling marks normal for a paper work of this era.
• Support: Heavyweight art paper.
