Nepalese hand-knotted rug in wool on cotton, 160 × 95 cm, from the 21st century, origin Nepal, one piece, in very good condition with full pile and intact edges, supplied with authenticity certificates.
Description from the seller
Nepalese carpets are hand-knotted unique pieces made from high-quality, often hand-spun Tibetan highland virgin wool, renowned for their density, durability, and the use of traditional Tibetan knotting techniques. They are known for simple, modern designs with soft color gradients and, thanks to natural materials and the absence of glue, are excellent for underfloor heating.
Details in particular:
Knotting technique: Application of the Tibetan knot, in which it is wrapped around a rod. It often forms loops that are later cut open, producing a particularly dense and soft pile.
Material: Usually high-quality, long-staple Tibetan virgin wool, which is very greasy (lanolin) and thus durable as well as dirt-repellent. They are often combined with silk fractions or hemp (very tear-resistant).
Design & color: Usually modern, reduced patterns, abstract designs, or solid-color areas with borders. Popular colors are earth tones, beige, gray, blue, green or terracotta.
Structure: The back is not glued, which makes the rug elastic, durable, and ideal for underfloor heating.
Manufacture: Pure handcrafted work. Typical are slight irregularities that make each piece a unique item.
Nepalese carpets are regarded as very easy to care for, durable (often several decades), and value-retaining.
