A marine landscape of great atmospheric suggestion. It depicts a solitary beach with light waves breaking on the shore, while the sky occupies the dominant part of the composition.

The sky is particularly expressive: dense and moving clouds, rendered with broad, textural brushstrokes, create a dramatic and poetic effect.

The dominant colors are grays, cold blues and whites, enlivened by delicate warm shades of pink, orange and yellow at the horizon, suggesting a sunset or sunrise.

The style is impressionistic/expressive, with a strong emphasis on light, atmosphere and the movement of the clouds rather than on detailed realism. The whole conveys a sense of vastness, stillness and poetic melancholy typical of contemporary marine landscapes.

Tania Azzar, Italian-French artist, works in Calabria in her studio overlooking the Ionian Sea.
