Description from the seller
Watch from a private collection; I have no record of the last service, but it is in working order.
It bears the inscription " ci dessous fourniture de rechange m".
According to information obtained by AI, it is a movement produced by Excelsior Park, which I transcribe:
What you see under the letter "M" is one of the brand Excelsior Park's most famous and rare features: the spare-parts compartment (fourniture de rechange). This Swiss brand was a pioneer in including critical parts directly inside the mechanism so that, should the watch require repair, the watchmaker would have the original components on hand. What this "M" means and what it hides: M of "Marque Déposée": The full inscription is usually "Excelsior Park M.R." (Trademark).
The Compartment: That plate screwed with the "M" is a lid. Under it, there is normally a balance staff and, sometimes, a replacement spring.
Exclusivity: Very few brands in the history of watchmaking have done this, which makes this mechanism highly sought after by collectors.
