Description from the seller
English antique wine glass – Newcastle baluster, circa 1750
A special and early English wine glass, dating from around 1750, executed in the so-called Newcastle baluster style. This type of glass belongs to the classic forms of the 18th century and is valued for its elegant and characteristic construction.
The glass features a sturdy baluster-shaped stem, typical of Newcastle production, and a refined bowl that is adorned along the rim with an engraved decoration. This subtle engraving gives the glass an extra dimension and testifies to the artisanal craftsmanship of the period.
