Crystal carafe with a solid silver mount – Netherlands, circa 1880
An elegant crystal carafe dating from around 1880 and originating from the Netherlands, fitted with a solid silver mount (.833). This piece combines refined glasswork with precious metal and reflects the rich table culture of the late 19th century.
The carafe is made of clear crystal and features very finely cut motifs, with deep facets and geometric patterns that brilliantly refract light. The silver mount forms a stylish frame and provides extra strength and a luxurious appearance.
Such carafes were used for serving wine or spirits and were part of a well-presented table service. Today they are valued as decorative objects and collectibles within antique crystal and silverware.
