Description from the seller
Kavel bevat:
An authentic glimpse into everyday life and education from the early 20th century — a remarkable Dutch herbarium collection consisting of three original notebooks titled “My Herbarium,” published by P. Noordhoff (Groningen), circa 1910–1915.
These notebooks were carefully compiled by a young student, Hannie Muller, whose name remains visible on the covers and gives the whole a personal and unique dimension.
The set consists of:
First notebook: about 45 plants on 32 pages
Second notebook: about 50 plants on 32 pages
Third notebook: partially filled – 15 plants on 10 pages (Not described)
Each plant has been hand-collected, dried, and attached, with hand-written notes in Dutch. These include, among others:
- plant names (often with Latin designations)
- botanical family
- localities, including Ommen and Utrecht
What makes this collection special is not only the content but also the atmosphere and authenticity: the plants largely retain their form and subtle colour tones, while the notebooks themselves clearly convey a sense of the period.
This is more than just a herbarium — it is a personal study archive that offers insight into education and the appreciation of nature study in the Netherlands at the beginning of the 20th century.
Condition: good vintage state, with light signs of use appropriate to the age.
A rare, aesthetically pleasing and collectible object, attractive to lovers of botany, educational history, and early scientific documentation.
