This work is part of The Artphabet, an artistic project developed by digital artist Cess, in which each letter of the alphabet pays homage to key figures in modern art and visual culture.

In this piece, the letter U is transformed into a tribute to Henri Matisse, reinterpreting his iconic language based on organic shapes, pure color, and expressive simplicity. The typography is built from biomorphic elements that directly evoke his famous cut-outs, where the cut form becomes the absolute protagonist.

The composition presents a fluid and natural structure, formed by soft volumes reminiscent of leaves or botanical shapes, arranged in a vertical rhythm that suggests growth and vitality. The color palette —vibrant and diverse— keeps the free and optimistic spirit characteristic of the artist, generating a sense of balance between spontaneity and control.

The three-dimensionality offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Matisse’s two-dimensional language, translating his flat forms into a sculptural setting where they acquire volume, texture, and physical presence, without losing their graphic essence.
