Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographer artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on the gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

With this series, David Law immerses into austere and dark universes, inhabited by suspended ghostly silhouettes. these indistinct, almost erased presences wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. through a visual writing built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notion of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, at the border between visible and invisible.

Edition & Manufacturing

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in back mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary display

Career

Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
