Lot of four vintage items: two tobacco boxes from Roermond, Netherlands, dating to the 1960s–1970s in good used condition, one with ships (silvered?) and missing one inner wooden slat, and one with soldiers; a vintage Indian white-metal box from 1960s–1980s with embossed elephants and floral motifs, measuring 17 cm by 6 cm by 11 cm; and a vintage aluminium hamburger press with a bull’s-head relief, 10 cm in diameter and 2 cm high, in good condition.
Description from the seller
* 2 tobacco boxes in good condition.
1 with ships (silver-plated?) is in nice condition, but is missing 1 wooden slat on the inside.
1 with soldiers is in good condition.
Size is 3 cm high, 13 cm wide, 10 cm deep.
Comes from the Roermond furniture factory that makes ships. The other one I don’t know.
* a vintage Indian white-metal box, from the period 1960–1980.
Origin: India (often from the Rajasthan region).
Material: made of white metal (an alloy of nickel and zinc).
Detailed relief work with elephants and floral motifs. The elephant in Indian culture is a symbol of strength, wisdom and luck.
In the past such boxes in India were often used for:
Storing jewelry or personal trinkets.
Tobacco or ceremonial powders (such as kumkum).
Nice condition.
Dimensions 17 cm long, 6 cm high, 11 cm deep.
* This is a vintage aluminum hamburger press.
These kitchen accessories were popular in the 1960s and 70s for making perfectly round burgers with a decorative relief.
