AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Cairoware bowl in Mamluk Revival style, probably from Egypt, late 19th century.

Brass body with surround inlays in copper and silver-colored metal components. Outer decorative braided frieze, beneath it the main register with facing bird motifs in cartouches on a dense arabesque ground.

The design follows Mamluk metalwork of the 14th/15th centuries and corresponds to the so-called Cairoware / Mamluk Revival ware, produced in the late 19th century for the European market.

Diameter about 11 cm, height about 5 cm.
Weight about 250 g.

Good age-appropriate condition with a beautiful patina. The silver-colored inlays are darkly oxidized, the copper inlays well preserved. Not polished. On the bottom are remnants of old collector’s or dealer’s notes in ink.
