Ancient Incense Boat - Metalworked Liturgical Object

Refined incense boat, a precious liturgical item of Latin tradition, used to contain grains of incense before they are placed on the thurible.

Description and Design
Morphology: The container presents the classic boat shape (navicella), a symbol of the Church sailing through the storms of the world.

Craftsmanship: The object is richly decorated with repoussé motifs. The lid, divided into two wings (one fixed and one mobile with a perfectly functioning hinge as shown in the photo), features elegant foliate decorations.

Base: The body rests on a central turned shaft that ends with a circular base, also decorated with acanthus and ornamental motifs coherent with the container’s style.

Material: Alloy with a splendid antique patina that enhances its reliefs and its historical character.

Technical Data
Type: Incense boat (liturgical object).

Height: About 13 cm (as visible from the ruler in the reference photo).

Condition: Good overall condition with signs of age and liturgical use that confer charm and authenticity. The lid hinge is intact.
