Description from the seller
Antonio Soriano 1952, self-taught Neapolitan painter devoted to the Neapolitan painting tradition of the 19th century.
The painting is an oil on rigid support attributable to a lyrical Post-Impressionism.
The technique is distinguished by the use of long and filamentous brushstrokes that follow the contours of the forms, creating a dynamic surface
The fragmentation of marks is recomposed into an image of great plastic solidity. The figure gains psychological and expressive depth, where the gesture of the hand under the chin becomes the fulcrum of a balanced and melancholic composition.
His canvases have already become part of the most refined salons, chosen for their ability to confer prestige and intellectual depth to the spaces that host them.
