Authentic electric miner's lamp dating from circa 1920–1930, made of steel, copper and glass, with identification number 1368 and natural patina.
Description from the seller
Authentic electric miner's lamp with the personal identification number 1368, visible on both the copper tag on the cylindrical battery housing and on the bracket at the top. This type of lamp was personally assigned by miners and carried into the mine daily. Through the number the lamp was linked to a specific miner, which also served as a safety system in emergencies.
The lamp consists of a black-painted steel battery cylinder as a base, a copper top piece with the light mechanism, a glass lamp holder with an original incandescent lamp, and a steel carrying bracket. The copper section has a beautiful natural patina from years of use.
This type of electric miner's lamp gradually replaced carbide lamps and oil lamps in the 1920s and 1930s, as part of the improved safety measures in Western European mining. A rugged and historic object with a direct human history.
Material: steel, copper, glass
