Description from the seller
Giuseppe Giardiello (1877-1920) - Fishermen in Capri.
Description:
Oil on canvas painting by the Neapolitan master Giuseppe Giardiello, a prominent painter of the Neapolitan naturalist school between the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century.
The work depicts a scene of daily life typical of the Campanian coast: a group of fishermen engaged in the arduous retrieval of the nets (the "sciabica") on the shore, with the characteristic wooden boats in the background and Capri unmistakably on the horizon.
Giardiello stands out in this canvas for a vibrant and tactile brushstroke, capable of masterfully capturing the Mediterranean light. The reflections of the water in the foreground and the color rendering of the sky testify to his great ability to convey the marine atmosphere.
Technique: Oil on canvas.
Era: Early twentieth century.
Dimensions of the work (framed): 52 x 77 cm.
Dimensions with frame: 72 x 100 cm.
Frame: Elegant contemporaneous frame in carved and gilded wood with black and red profiles, which enhances the painting’s depth.
I provide careful packing and shipping via trackable courier.
The painting has protective glass; the buyer at the time of purchase may request in the internal messaging that it be removed before shipping.
Otherwise, we decline any liability and do not accept claims in case of damages caused by breakage by the buyer themselves.
