Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
José Cabrera
In “Alma de Bronce,” José Cabrera presents an equestrian portrait where natural elegance and contained strength merge into a visually balanced image. The horse, depicted with a slight tilt of the head, conveys a sense of conscious serenity, as if its presence carries a silent intelligence.
The chromatic treatment is one of the most notable aspects of the work. The warm tones of the coat, reminiscent of incandescent bronze, dialogue with a greenish background that provides depth and contrast without competing with the subject’s prominence. This combination creates an enveloping, refined, and visually very attractive atmosphere.
From a technical standpoint, Cabrera demonstrates solid mastery of hyperrealist oil painting. The transition of lights across the animal’s anatomy, the subtlety in the reflections, and the care in the details of the harness reveal precise and sensitive execution. Each element is carefully integrated to build a coherent image with a strong presence.
Beyond its technical virtuosity, the work conveys character. There is in the horse’s gaze a firm calm, a dignity that does not need to assert itself. Cabrera thus achieves a portrait that connects with the equestrian tradition, yet at the same time feels contemporary in its synthesis and visual clarity.
An ideal piece for collectors who value elegance, refined technique, and the ability of an image to convey presence and balance.
