Description from the seller

NO RESERVE

Pair of Moroccan Berber Koummya-Style Daggers with Scabbards

A decorative pair of traditional North African curved daggers, offered together as one lot, each with its original scabbard.

These pieces are characteristic of Moroccan Berber craftsmanship, often referred to as koummya-type daggers. The strongly curved scabbards, engraved geometric motifs, and distinctive open-form hilts are typical of this regional style.

Both scabbards are richly decorated with engraved metal overlays (likely brass or white metal) featuring geometric and floral patterns. One dagger retains its original suspension chain, while the other is fitted with a braided cord, enhancing their display appeal.

The handles are made of dark wood with engraved metal mounts, showing traditional hand-worked detailing.

One dagger is shown unsheathed, revealing a curved steel blade with visible oxidation and age-related patina. The blade has not been cleaned, preserving its authentic surface.

Dimensions:
- Larger dagger: approx. 55 × 10 × 3 cm
- Smaller dagger: approx. 43 × 7 × 2 cm

Condition:
Overall in good decorative condition with age-related wear. This includes oxidation to the blade, surface wear, minor dents, and wear to the scabbards and metal fittings. Please refer carefully to the photographs for a full impression.

Materials:
Steel blade, wood handles, engraved metal mounts and scabbards, textile cord and metal chain.

Origin:
Morocco (Berber tradition), North Africa

Period:
Second half 20th century

A striking and authentic decorative pair, ideal for collectors of ethnographic weapons, North African art, or traditional craftsmanship.
