Original Rolex watch for sale, reference 6105, produced in the early 1950s and attributed to the year 1951 based on the serial number.
The reference 6105 is historically recognized as the first Rolex Datejust, the model that first introduced automatic date display with instant-change at midnight.
Stainless steel case with a screw-down Bubble Back case back, 36 mm in diameter excluding the crown, an innovative size for the era and destined to become the standard for the Datejust. Bezel in gold. Rolex crown.
Original-era dial with date window at 3 o’clock, applied indices and graphics consistent with early 1950s production. Uniform patina present, appropriate for the watch’s age. Hands correct for the period. Plexiglass crystal.
Automatic mechanical Rolex movement with date, functioning at cataloging time; not tested for chronometric accuracy or water resistance.
Overall good condition considering its age of over 70 years, with signs of use and wear consistent with the period. No recent cosmetic restorations declared. The photographs are an integral part of the description and faithfully depict the watch’s condition.
Non-original strap. Watch sold without box and papers.
A piece of great historical and collectible significance, essential for vintage Rolex enthusiasts and for anyone wishing to own the progenitor of the Datejust line.
