Laura Muolo, born in 1975, Milanese by birth and Rimini by adoption. She approaches art as a self-taught artist since 2013. Her starting medium is graphite with which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, while subsequently she approaches other media such as pastel and painting.
She participates in many group exhibitions in Italy and internationally and also exhibits her works in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections around the world. Four solo shows so far. She collaborated for the realization of a cover of a poetry book in 2015 and for the cover of a philosophy book in 2023.
Winner and finalist of several artistic competitions, national and international.
Laura describes her work thus: “I prefer oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, sanding, perfecting. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to immediately grasp the essence of the subject, in a direct and instinctive way. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions, and stories to decipher.
My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what you don’t see: desires, fears, memories. Each scene starts from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects, and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling. Painting, for me, is a journey into the realm of the unspoken.”
