Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a versatile artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovered at a very young age his first passion, music creation. This passion guided him in his youth, and his early talents led him to take a bold decision: invest the money meant to fund his higher studies into creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.
Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt joined the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he dedicated his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point of his career came in 2005 when he became a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovered a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt made a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who became a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is marked by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular fondness for appropriating magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay outside of social networks, thus preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
