Sergio González (1979) is a contemporary painter whose work centers mainly on urban and architectural landscapes, notable for the use of bold textures and a warm color palette. His style combines expressionist elements with a personal interpretation of the traditional Spanish landscape, bringing dynamism and depth to his compositions.
The painting depicts a group of stepped houses on a hillside, evoking the traditional “hanging houses” of Spanish popular architecture. The buildings, with whitewashed walls and rooftops in reddish and ochre tones, overlap to form a dense and structured composition. At the top, a more prominent structure stands out, possibly a church or tower, acting as the visual axis of the scene.
The sky, treated with bluish tones and loose brushwork, contrasts with the warmth of the houses, contributing to chromatic balance. The technique used shows a thick, expressive brushstroke with the accumulation of material that adds volume and texture to the surfaces. The work conveys a sense of tradition, rootedness, and everyday life in a rural or historical setting.
The piece is presented in a classic frame, carved wood with a gold finish. It features relief decoration with vegetal and ornamental motifs along its entire perimeter. The interior of the frame includes a light molding that creates an elegant contrast with the outer gold, enhancing the artwork’s luminosity and giving it a distinguished and timeless character.
