Description from the seller

A large, materially textured painting titled “Maremma,” dated 1995, attributed to the Roman painter Mario Martini (1931–2007).

The painting measures 94 by 74 cm with frame. (80 by 60 cm the painting without the frame).

The work has a strong decorative impact: a Maremma buffalo in the foreground, rendered with thick, vibrant painting, immersed in the warm tones of the countryside and in a sky moved by relief-worked clouds. The surface is richly textured with matter and marks, with evident spatula application and impasto passages that create a highly three-dimensional, scenographic effect.

The name Mario Martini is linked to the Roman artistic milieu of the second half of the twentieth century: a self-taught painter, close to the atmosphere of Via Margutta and the Piazza del Popolo area, known for a direct and communicative painting, often devoted to landscapes, scenes, and atmospheres. Here the artist expresses his chromatic sensibility in a powerful, earthy scene, with a very present painterly material.
