Crocodile nutcracker – attributed to Walter Bosse – Austria – c. 1950s–60s

Decorative nutcracker in the shape of a crocodile, attributed to the Austrian designer Walter Bosse. This type of animal figure is characteristic of the playful mid-century design from the 1950s and 60s.

The piece has a beautiful dark patina with lighter highlights. The jaws function as a nutcracker and close well.

Probably manufactured in Austria, possibly in collaboration with an atelier such as Herta Baller.

Unmarked, therefore attributed to Walter Bosse.
