AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

POP CORN is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that transforms a everyday object into a vibrant, funny image deeply tied to the cinema and popular culture imaginary.

The work features a large popcorn container as the protagonist, reinterpreted from a retro pop aesthetic inspired by old advertisements, drive-in posters, and classic American comics. The bold black outlines, saturated colors, and frontal composition turn the scene into an immediate and highly iconic image.

The contrast between the intense blue of the background, the bright red of the base, and the stripes of the container generates a dynamic visual energy that recalls mid-20th-century commercial graphics. The painting deliberately plays with the repetition of the word “POP,” linking popcorn not only to cinema but also to the Pop Art movement itself.

Beyond the gastronomic representation, the work speaks of leisure, nostalgia, and collective memory. The popcorn functions here as a symbol of shared entertainment, of movie nights, childhood, and contemporary visual culture.

Flavia Delgado thus turns a simple, recognizable element into an elegant, decorative image full of personality. The work maintains a cheerful and relaxed tone, yet at the same time possesses a carefully crafted graphic construction that gives it aesthetic strength and visual presence.

POP CORN is a luminous, contemporary piece where humor, design, and cinematic nostalgia come together in a color-rich, character-filled composition.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
