JonOne biography:

John Andrew Perello, better known as JonOne, is a graffiti artist and painter of Dominican origin. He was born in New York in the 1960s and grew up in the vibrant Harlem neighborhood. At seventeen, he began tagging trains and walls in his neighborhood, marking his graffiti beginnings. Self-taught, he later moved to a new medium: the canvas.

Gradually, he moved from the street to the galleries, and his works are now exhibited worldwide. His creations are deeply influenced by his personal journey, infused with hip-hop, urban culture, and the New York subway.

His style, both instinctive and thoughtful, goes beyond the traditional rules of graffiti and street art. He advocates total freedom in the act of creation. Thus, he develops a “freestyle” painting, freed from any formal or narrative constraint.

In 1987, JonOne moved to Paris. This change marked a decisive turning point. From then on, he dedicated himself fully to conquering the canvas.

In his works, space is saturated. Absence doesn’t exist. Color becomes vital energy. His palette, rich and contrasted, expresses subtle play of light and matter.

Soon, JonOne made a name for himself in the Paris art scene. He has attracted both critics and collectors.

Today, his renown extends far beyond specialized circles. Indeed, he has collaborated with major brands such as Lacoste, Hennessy, Air France, and Perrier.
