Greek Byzantine icon – Entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday) – Mount Athos Style

Beautiful icon in Byzantine style depicting the Entry of Christ into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday). The scene shows Christ riding on a donkey while the disciples and the inhabitants of Jerusalem greet Him with palm branches, a traditional subject in Orthodox Christian iconography.

This piece is a faithful reproduction of a 16th-century Byzantine icon from Mount Athos, Stavronikita Monastery, as noted on the certificate attached to the back.

The icon is created in the traditional Byzantine style with a gold background and mounted on a wooden panel. The top inscription in Greek reads Η ΒΑΙΟΦΟΡΟΣ, which means 'The Entry into Jerusalem'.
