Description from the seller

DISCO is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that celebrates nightlife glamour, pop culture, and the vibrant aesthetics of dance floors from the seventies and eighties.

The work features a female figure surrounded by floating mirror balls that transform the scene into a bright, almost cinematic universe. The protagonist appears suspended between elegance and mystery, with an intense gaze that connects directly with the viewer and conveys a sense of movement, music, and nightlife.

Inspired by vintage graphics, old advertising posters, and the visual language of Pop Art, the painting uses bold colors, defined black lines, and luminous contrasts that create a dynamic and highly decorative composition. The electric blues of the disco balls dialogue with the vibrant red of the dress and lips, creating a sophisticated and magnetic atmosphere.

Beyond the aesthetic reference, the piece speaks of celebration, freedom, and the longing for escape. The shining spheres function as symbols of party and fantasy, while the protagonist embodies the confident and glamorous spirit of an era defined by music and visual exuberance.

Flavia Delgado thus transforms the disco imaginary into a contemporary image full of retro nostalgia and graphic strength. The work blends sensuality, design, and popular culture within a clean, powerful, and recognizable composition.

DISCO is a luminous and energetic piece where fashion, music, and pop aesthetics are united in a scene full of rhythm, color, and personality.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
