The Berlin photographer Sven Marquardt is among the best-known contemporary portrait photographers in Germany. He became renowned for his distinctive black-and-white portraits, which document Berlin's subculture, underground scene, and club culture since the 1980s. His works fuse raw aesthetics with emotional intensity and reflect Berlin's transformation from the GDR era to the international art and techno scene. In addition to his international work as a photographer, Sven Marquardt is also a defining figure of Berghain. His photographs are exhibited worldwide and are regarded as significant works of contemporary art and portrait photography from Berlin.
