There is something primal in this painting — as if the vegetal matter had decided to multiply beyond control, leaf upon leaf, layer upon layer, until saturating every breath. The color burns: from the base of almost charcoal black, it rises toward crimson, magenta, pale rose, with flashes of turquoise that appear here and there like memories of a distant sky. There is no center, there is no direction — only this continual expansion, this proliferation that has the silent strength of that which grows without permission. Looking at it for a long time is like standing inside a forest dense with night, when darkness and the flower are the same thing.
