Description from the seller
The Team: Mapei (1993–2002)
Mapei was a powerhouse Belgian-Italian team that dominated the 1990s. They were the "Galácticos" of cycling, consistently ranked #1 in the world. They were especially famous for their "Mapei Train" in the Spring Classics, once even sweeping the entire podium (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) at the grueling Paris-Roubaix in 1996.
The Design: "The Cubes"
The colorful, multi-colored cubes aren't just random art. Mapei is a major global producer of adhesives, sealants, and chemical products for building.
• The Cubes: Represent the different types of building materials and specialized bricks Mapei products are used for.
• The Colors: The vibrant palette was designed to stand out in a muddy peloton, making the riders instantly identifiable even through the grit of a rainy race.
Notable Riders
If that kit is an original (or even a high-quality vintage reproduction), you're wearing the same colors as some of the greatest legends of the sport:
• Johan Museeuw (The Lion of Flanders)
• Michele Bartoli
• Paolo Bettini (The Cricket)
• Tony Rominger
