Description from the seller
Viscount d’Arlincourt – “Ida or The Two Similars” – 19th-century illustrated edition
Elegant 19th-century Italian edition of Ida o Le due simili (Ida or The Two Similar Ones) by Viscount d’Arlincourt, one of the most celebrated authors of French romantic and popular fiction of the 19th century.
Volume bound in black half-leather with gilded titles and ornaments to the spine and marbled boards. The work is enriched by an illustrated frontispiece engraving, of striking decorative charm and typical of popular editions of the era.
Published in Milan by Fratelli Ferrario, a historic Milanese publishing house specialized in literature and illustrated works.
Interior pages complete and well preserved, with natural browning of the paper and light scattered foxing. Solid binding with moderate signs of wear to the edges and spine, consistent with the age of the volume.
An interesting copy for collectors of French romantic fiction, illustrated books, and nineteenth-century popular literature."
