AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

“Umbral”

In this work I construct a system of overlapping planes where color acts as a field of emotional tension. The dominant red is not just a backdrop, but an enveloping atmosphere that activates the entire surface and places the viewer in a state of perceptual alert. I divide the space into bands that function as reading layers: at the bottom, a linear blue network describes synthetic vegetation, almost coded, recalling that “garden” in my work that symbolizes the mutable and the lived. In the center, the matter becomes denser and more pictorial, with overlapping gestures that suggest accumulation, memory, and time. Above all of that, I let vertical lines fall through the composition, as if the space were being filtered or traversed by a rain of information.

The upper plane, more contained and luminous, presents itself as a suspended space, a place of transition where form dissolves and the image becomes almost intangible. It is there that I place the concept of the “threshold”: an unstable boundary between the structural and the organic, between what is contained and what expands. In this piece, the “house” — understood as a solid identity — is fragmented into layers, while the “garden” emerges from below as a force that insists on occupying everything. My intention is not to represent, but to provoke that sensation of passage, of crossing, where the spectator stands right at that limit at which something ceases to be in order to begin transforming.

About R.Robin

Robinson Rodríguez García is a visual artist, theater designer, and drawing professor, born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and resident in Spain. He graduated in 2003 from the Provincial Academy of Fine Arts and pursues an artistic practice centered on painting and contemporary language, where abstraction, geometry, and a strong symbolic load converge. Between 2003 and 2005 he taught drawing workshops at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech School of Arts Instructors, and between 2006 and 2009 he worked as a costume and set designer for the Santa Clara Provincial Council of Performing Arts, an experience that decisively influenced his spatial and formal conception within the visual arts.

His work has been presented in various solo exhibitions in Cuba, notably at the Provincial Gallery of Art and in institutional spaces in Santa Clara. He has also participated in important group exhibitions and international fairs, including Art Basel Miami, group exhibitions in France, and contemporary art events in the Americas and Europe. In 2017 he took part in art fairs in Mexico. His career is complemented by studies and international workshops related to scenic design and visual creation, consolidating a multidisciplinary artistic profile that engages painting, space, and contemporary symbolic experience.
