Monumental Bamileke Chief's Drum - 104 cm - High relief - Cameroon

Main features:
Dimensions: Height 104 cm | Diameter 30 cm.
Weight: 14.5 kg (very dense and heavy wood).
Iconography: The shaft is carved on two circular registers in high relief. It depicts hunting and war scenes with figures of dynamic features, typical of Cameroonian royal aesthetics. The expressive faces and warrior postures testify to the power of the chieftaincy to which it belonged.
Construction: A membrane of natural animal skin held in tension by a traditional wooden pegging tension system. The base is adorned with incised geometric motifs.
