Handmade Italian maiolica pitcher with lustre glaze, dating to circa 1900–1910, 13 cm high and 19 cm wide, featuring a floral decoration, a young noble profile and the inscription MASSIMILIANO with a latin phrase on a lower ribbon, in good condition with small signs of age and stains.
Description from the seller
This splendid majolica carafe is a piece of great charm that captures the essence of Italian ceramic tradition.
Characterized by a rich floral decoration and the profile of a young nobleman, it bears the inscription "MASSIMILIANO" on one side and a Latin phrase on the lower ribbon.
The truly distinctive element is the lustre finish: a special coating that, as light changes, releases spectacular metallic and iridescent reflections over the tones of blue and gold, making the object almost magical to behold. Entirely handmade, probably in the first half of the 20th century in one of the famous Italian ceramic centers (such as Deruta or Gubbio, known for this technique), the pitcher presents the typical "cavillature" of the glaze that attest its originality and vintage character. With a height of 13 cm and a width of 19 cm (including the wide decorated handle), it is a collectible piece perfect to enhance a display case or as a touch of classy decor in a refined setting.
It presents small defects due to time shown in photos.
