Biography
Mel Ramos (1935–2018) is regarded as one of the most significant American Pop Art artists. He became known for his humorous and provocative depictions of pin-up girls, which he often paired with branded products such as chocolate, cigarettes, or beverages. Ramos studied art at Sacramento State College in California and was closely associated with the giants of Pop Art like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tom Wesselmann. His works combine consumer critique with erotic imagery and are today represented in major museums as well as international private collections. In the art market, Ramos’s paintings and prints attract considerable attention, particularly his limited screen prints and lithographs, which appeal to a broad circle of collectors.
