Description from the seller
JM Robert (born in 1988)
“Quotidien” – 2022
Mixed media on canvas
Original work signed on the recto and verso
Format: 50 x 50 cm
With Quotidien, JM Robert presents a delicate and luminous work where a female portrait and poetic abstraction meet with great fluidity. The artist here composes an airy universe blending floral touches, spontaneous gestures, and transparent drips in a fresh palette dominated by greens, blues, pinks, and fluorescent yellows.
The face appears almost suspended in the pictorial landscape, like a memory or a fleeting emotion. Between precision of line and gestural freedom, the work plays on contrasts between softness, movement, and raw material. This tension between mastery and spontaneity is one of the signatures of JM Robert’s work.
The floral elements and the plays of transparency give the composition a real sense of breathing and lightness, while the projections and scratches recall the influence of contemporary urban art in his approach.
A French artist on the current contemporary scene, JM Robert has for several years developed a readily identifiable universe mixing portrait, abstraction, and emotion. His works are today present in numerous private collections in France and internationally and charm with their sensitivity as well as their strong decorative presence.
