Title: "Abstract Wound"
Description:
This painting does not tell a concrete story – and yet it feels like a memory you can’t quite grasp. Gray, almost fleeting forms appear as shadows of thoughts or bodies that surface in the background and then disappear again. Above them, black and red splashes break through like suddenly ripped-open emotions – raw, uncontrolled, and honest.
"Abstract Wound" stands for what people often carry inside: invisible injuries, quiet conflicts, moments that leave traces even when no one sees them. The red accents evoke pain and intensity, while the black reflects the chaos and heaviness that can arise within. The light gray in between acts like a breath – an attempt to find order or to continue.
The painting reads like an inner dialogue: between vulnerability and strength, between control and eruption. It invites not only to look but to feel – and perhaps to recognize one’s own "abstract wound" within it.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, primarily created with acrylic paints. Originally from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are meticulously crafted from high-quality materials to ensure vibrant colors and longevity. In his art he frequently engages themes such as identity, memory and the exploration of human emotions, often pushing the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.
Prein’s approach to art is multidimensional, combining painting with elements of sculpture and installation. This unique style has earned him recognition both in Austria and internationally, with exhibitions across Europe, North America and Asia. His works often invite the viewer to reflect on the complexities of the modern world and the deeper aspects of the human experience.
For a painting with the dimensions 160 x 100 cm, you need a stretcher frame of size 150 x 90 cm and a thickness of 2-4 cm.
You can either stretch the canvas yourself or have it stretched by an artisan or gallery.
This is a handmade original, signed by the artist on the back and dated to the year.
High-quality and lightfast acrylic paints have been used on multiple-coated, white-primered gallery canvas.
A varnish has also been applied to protect the work.
This work is handcrafted and therefore unique!
--- Certificate of authenticity included ---
Beautify your private home, law firm, practice or office and elevate your spaces in an elegant and stylish way.
When a person ventures into their innermost depth, into a sphere that rarely comes to light, into a space that is mysterious and hidden, waiting to be discovered, tickled awake, yet tormentedly uplifted, then art is born.
