Pino Procopio, (Guardavalle, June 16, 1954), is an Italian painter, sculptor, and illustrator, a prominent figure in figurative art. He began his artistic studies in Catanzaro, but completed them in Rome. In 1982 he earned a degree in Architecture from Sapienza University of Rome.
In 1980, the art center “La Bitta” hosted his first solo show. After two years in Verona, in 1985 he settled in Giulianova, in Abruzzo.
In 2001, the Italian Foundation Stauròs Onlus invited him to exhibit at the Staurós Museum of Sacred Contemporary Art in San Gabriele. The work “Father, into Your hands I commend my spirit” is today a permanent piece in the museum’s collection.
In the following year, 2002, he created the painting for the poster of the World Book and Copyright Day, sponsored by UNESCO.
The State Monopolies Commission commissioned him in 2003 to create the painting to be placed on the European Lottery ticket, and in 2004 he was commissioned to create the painting that would be placed on the Italian Lottery ticket.
In 2005 the Ministry of Communications organized a Roma exhibition telling the evolution of the Italian postal service over 100 years.
In 2007 the Pescara Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society awarded him the “Dante Alighieri 2007” prize in the Art section.
The following year, in 2008, in Rome, the Boncompagni-Ludovisi Museum of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art hosted “Ulysses, scenes of a journey,” a show dedicated to him.
In 2015, in Rome, at the National Gallery of Modern Art (GNAM), he participated in the group show Corporate Art, concerning the close relationship between industrial commissions and art.
In 2017, at the Teramo Palazzo dello Sport, under the patronage of UNESCO and MIUR, the exhibition “Baadaye, Pinocchio d’Africa” took place, a modern reinterpretation of the Pinocchio tale tied to the drama of immigration.
In 2019, the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno commissioned him to realize the Palio della Quintana for the historic August joust.
Also in 2019, he showed in two solo exhibitions, at the Palazzo del Pegaso of the Tuscany Region in Florence and later at the Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo in Pescara.
In 2020, he exhibited at the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo in Ascoli Piceno, a solo show focused on the knightly theme of the Quintana, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno, Ascoli Musei, and the Marche Region.
In 2021, with the sponsorship of the Marche Region and the Municipality of Recanati, he was invited to exhibit in a solo show centered on the figure of the poet Giacomo Leopardi, in the main aula magna of the town hall in Recanati.
In 2022, he exhibited at the Saline Warehouses in the town of Siena in a solo show, sponsored by the Tuscany Region.
