This painting came from a feeling of light and ease. I wanted to capture the quality of late afternoon sun, that golden hour where everything slows down. I enjoyed building the background layer by layer and letting the figures emerge naturally from within it.

Sonia Anton is a Romanian-Australian artist whose passion for painting was shaped from an early age, growing up alongside her mother, a celebrated artist whose work left a lasting impression. Having lived across the world from Australia to Mexico and in different continents, Sonia brings a richness of experience and perspective to every canvas. Surrounded by creativity and self-expression from childhood, she naturally found her own voice through paint and colour. Her work is driven by a deep love of colour, and a more recent fascination with texture, which she explores with growing boldness and confidence.
