Set of 2 antique Chinese blue-and-white porcelain plates

The plates are decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and display a refined floral design with flowering branches, arabesques and stylized flowers within a lobed cartouche.

The painting shows subtle nuances in the cobalt blue, ranging from deep dark blue to lighter washes, giving these plates a lively and authentic character.

The plates were manufactured in Jingdezhen, the principal production center of Chinese porcelain, and were intended for export to Europe during the height of the VOC trade.

Condition
The plates are in good antique condition with signs of age consistent with porcelain exported more than 300 years ago:

* some small edge frits and tiny chips;
* light signs of use;
* kiln defects, kiln specks and glaze nuances from the manufacturing process;
* no visible restorations.

These imperfections are typical of authentic Kangxi porcelain and do not detract from the decorative and collector value.
