Italian-made solid sterling silver box, 20 × 15 × 4 cm, weight 607 g, full incised lid with volute and acanthus motifs, no wood inserts, Toscano origin, circa 1970–1980, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Important 925 Solid Silver Box – Weight 607g – Fully Engraved – Without wood inserts – Italy, 1970s/80s
Description
Rarity and Build Quality
Up for auction an exceptionally valued and substantial specimen: a large rectangular box in Solid Silver Title 925.
The exclusive standout of this lot, which differentiates it from standard production, is its construction: the item has NO wood inserts, mirrors, or interior coverings. It is made entirely and exclusively of solid silver in every part. This feature is highly sought after by collectors because the total weight of 607 grams is composed solely of precious metal.
Period and Manufacture
The item dates to the second half of the 20th century (circa 1970-1980). The hallmarks present (sterling 925 title and factory mark with a star) identify an excellent Italian production made after the 1968 reform, originating from the renowned Tuscan goldsmith districts.
Design and Workmanship
The lid features superb engraving work with scroll motifs and acanthus leaves. The decoration is extremely detailed and covers the entire top surface, creating a refined interplay of light and shadow. The side walls are smooth and mirror-polished, emphasizing the clean lines and the solidity of the silver.
Technical Data
Material: Sterling Silver 925 (hallmarked).
Total Weight: 607 grams (all solid silver).
Dimensions: 20 cm x 15 cm x 4 cm.
Condition: Excellent overall. The structure is solid, the hinge functions perfectly and is aligned. It shows only the natural patina of time that guarantees its originality.
