Description from the seller
Splendid hand-painted service for 10 people created by master artisans from Deruta.
The abundance of clay deposits and the favorable location along important transport routes, both on land and on rivers, favored the development of ceramic production in Deruta since the Middle Ages. With a continuity uninterrupted for at least seven centuries, Deruta remains today the center of the largest production of artistic majolica in Italy. In this great ceramic cradle there are countless artisan workshops, the kilns where new clays were created and tested, new techniques experimented, new shapes conceived, new glazes and varnishes tried, new colors and new decorative paintings employed.
The set consists of 10 flat plates with a diameter of 20.5 cm.
Objects of great refinement and elegance. Very rare, painted and molded completely by hand.
