Detailed description:
Rare and authentic Chinese cult statue in terracotta depicting Guan Yu (Guan Gong), the god of loyalty and protector of the home.
This piece stands out for its exceptional density and the presence of its original transport and presentation box, a rarity for objects from this period.
Statuette characteristics:
Subject: General Guan Yu seated in majesty. He holds in his right hand the "Chunqiu" (The Spring and Autumn Annals), symbolizing his moral integrity, and strokes his long beard with his left hand.
Material: Dense red terracotta (ferruginous clay).
Dimensions: Height 27 cm.
Weight: Very heavy for its size: 1.8 kg (solid piece, proof of authenticity).
Details: Precise sculpting work on dragon robes (Longpao). Traces of ancient black and green pigments still present.
Original box and markings:
The set is accompanied by its period blue-toned cardboard box with bone clasps.
Calligraphy: A yellow label on the top bears the handwritten inscription "關羽像" (Statue of Guan Yu).
Authentication: Presence of several red guarantee seals on the box and calligraphic inscriptions on the back (workshop or art dealer marks from the period).

Good overall state of conservation. Superb wear patina with natural erosion of surface colors, evidencing its age and ritual use. The box shows signs of wear consistent with its age but remains structurally sound.
