Description from the seller

I don't respond to 'what is your lowest price'—please send your offer directly. I reply to every offer.

Very old metronome. Teak wood. The metronome consists of an inverted pendulum. The pendulum moves steadily back and forth and in each cycle produces two clearly audible ticks. By adjusting a small weight on the pendulum, the swing time can be changed. Inside the case is parchment-like paper with the print of the Italian musical terms presto, allegro, andante, adagio, larghetto and largo, with a small drawing/symbol at the bottom.

The metronome can be wound up with the accompanying key. The metronome is finished at the front with a brass plate bearing the inscription Maelzel.

Johann Nepomuk Maelzel is known as a metronome maker around 1820; he had a patent registered in Paris.

Height 23 cm, width 12 cm by 12 cm

Carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
