Description from the seller
This is an antique silver-plated lidded serving dish on legs, probably from the 19th century. The dish is made of high-quality silver-plated metal.
We see an oval shape, graceful acanthus leaf handles, and decorative feet. Such dishes were used to keep dishes warm on a buffet.
The dish consists of three parts that fit together smoothly. The lidded dish is in generally good condition with signs of wear.
The Latin motto ‘Virtutis Gloria Merces,’ which we see on the lid, means ‘Glory is the reward of virtue.’ This is the official motto of the Scottish Clan Robertson.
Furthermore, I refer you to the photos in which you can see other marks on the silverware.
Height: ~13 cm
Width: ~22 cm
Length: ~33 cm
Weight: 2.5 kg
PNS mark: Plated Nickel Silver
Model number 3000G
